The DoubleTree by Hilton Metropolitan New York City has just completed an exciting $25 million transformation project which included all-new guestrooms and brand-new meeting space. This extensive guestroom revitalization project included brand-new wall coverings, window treatments, furniture, seating and new guestroom bathrooms plus dramatic upgrades to the hotel’s 12,000 square feet of meeting space. This iconic, contemporary, landmark hotel is perfectly located at Lexington Avenue and 51st Street in the heart of Midtown Manhattan's fashionable East Side and is within walking distance of Park and Madison Avenues, the Broadway theater district, fabulous New York City museums, the United Nations, New York City's world-class shopping and best attractions. The DoubleTree by Hilton Metropolitan New York City is full of character and history, as it was originally designed by Morris Lapidus, the modernist architect of Art Deco fame. His iconoclastic style is seen in both the interior building (which reflects a contemporary version of the Lapidus design-a 1960's look with eclectic touches, a retro-cool feel, and design accents) as well as the exterior blue façade - which is shaped like a perpendicular rolling wave. This Midtown Manhattan hotel is also where Marilyn Monroe made history.
