much better and staff very helpful
this was not my 1st choice (it was full) but the location was a requirement. stayed 3 days and everything was very good. needed some staff assistance and they were right on the ball and more than willing to help. while i am still skeptical based on my last stays i will not overlook the hilton next month and continue to give them the opportunity to improve quality because the location works very well for us
LOVED!!! Hilton -- would definitely recommend!
The hotel was very comfortable and clean...staff was extremely helpful and friendly during our stay, whether we needed advice about Knoxville or a few extra towels. The breakfast buffet was a very nice perk - it had everything we could have imagined and was always fully prepared. Great location on Church Street to most everything downtown. Would definitely stay again and recommend.
Not the Best Hilton, but Adequate for the Money
Stayed four nights. First room was next to the elevator which was very noisy all night. The front desk gladly switched me the following day to much better location, for which I was very appreciative. The thermostat's battery was dead, but they sent someone right away to fix it. The bed was very comfortable. The fitness center is very well equipped for a hotel. The staff was very courteous, and the restaurants and bars were very good. There is even a Starbucks in the lobby which is nice. The main problem is that this particular Hilton is a bit outdated. Single pane windows allow all street noise in, even idling trucks and buses. Also, the doors are not insulated at all, and have very strong springs that slam the doors shut. You hear slamming doors up and down the hallway at all times of the day and night, especially when the maids start morning cleaning -- it's nonstop door slamming -- not good for sleeping in, especially if you are a light sleeper. The hotel is showing its age and really needs some updating, especially if it is going to carry the Hilton brand name.

Go to Calhoun's for a Great Meal!
Calhoun's by the river, a short walk from the hotel, has excellent smoked ribs and chicken. Just what I wanted while in Tennessee. It was recommended by many locals when I asked for a good barbecue restaurant. Excellent choice! I ate there three times in five days (twice for lunch and once for dinner). Their spinach souffle side dish is to die for! Couldn't get enough.
Good value
I was very well impressed with this hotel. The room was very well done and comfortable, although you may have to request a foam pillow for better comfort. There is a Starbuck's there in the hotel, and the breakfast buffet was actually one of the best I have ever had. Good location for the downtown and UT area.
Nice, but overpriced.
We visited Knoxville for a football game. The hotel was about 1 mile from Neyland Stadium and not a bad walk--much better than fighting traffic. The hotel was clean and really nice, but a bit overpriced for what we got. Granted, we were there on an event weekend, so rates were higher, but with all the taxes (I believe it was about $ dollars worth) and the room rate, we shelled out over $ just for one night of accomodations, and no, this was was not a suite, just a standard room! So, the only reason I wouldn't give this hotel 5 stars is because of price.
