Hotel New Otani Osaka

Service was excellent and room was in good shape. Hotel was a little noisy though...the plumbing is very loud (either water hammer or loud valves) and on the weekend, there was a loudspeaker on the castle side promoting boat trips and a battle of the bands. We enjoyed it more when we moved to the non-castle side. The location is both good and bad: very close to a station on the Osaka loop line but not much else. In hindsight, since we were using this as a base for daytrips, I would have stayed in Kita to eliminate one leg of the trip out and be closer to food.

We were met by nice music in their spacious lobby, then properly checked into a nice, clean, new room. The chocolates I asked for were delicious and the card was also just as requested, so my partner was happy! The bathroom was new and spotless with tons of toiletries. When we asked for directions here and there, we received a new map and train schedule each time. We opted for the buffet breakfast in the morning, but this was not included in our deal room rate. There was a wide assortment of foods including eggs made to order. We ate our fill. Then the bill -- holy sh#t! If you are planning a stay here and intend to eat breakfast be ready to shell out or just have coffee in the lobby and then eat out. When we came back at 9:30 from a full day out, we were greeted by lovely piano music performed by a beautiful woman in a white gown.

USJ -- Be there on time

If you are going to USJ, make sure to be on time or EARLY. If you aren't on time, good luck trying to get the Express Booklet. ""Don't need an Express Booklet,"" you say. Enjoy baking for HOURS under the fierce summer sun. Hard Rock Cafe just outside the park is really loud.

The hotel is very nice, but it's a small walk from the station, no food places close by (except family mart).
