Nice resort, great stay

The resort has everything that is needed: Nice pool with waterslide, kids pool, access to the beach (although not big, but sufficient), good breakfast options (an expensive and a cheaper option, both good), very nice dinner option, nice room (clean, comfortable bed). We were lucky to be upgraded to ocean view hotel with beautiful sunset view and enjoyed some special treatment, since we mentioned that it was our honeymoon (Lei, picture album, free bottle of champage). Also, the hotel is not too far from Lahaina, if you have a car. All in all a great stay.

Highway to heavenly Hana

Highway to Hana is a must do. It's beautiful. Calculate a full day (10 hours with all the stops). So leave early and bring enough food and water (there is a place at the beginning of the Highway, I believe it was the Hana Picnic Co that has all you need: Food, Insect Spray and even CD's that tell you about the different stops, eg Water falls (there are plenty and you can swim there), black sand beach, red sand beach (it's a little hidden, so ask someone how to get there in Hana).
Type:Dining Distance: Requires transportation

Lahaina must do

Apart from the restaurant at the Hyatt, which was very good (great steak, filet mignon as well as ribeye were delicious), in Lahaina the Pacific'O restaurant is right at the ocean and has great fish dishes.

The hotel grounds are very nice, but the rooms are dated. The food choices are great and the pool is amazing. The staff including front desk and valet were awesome and helpful. We will stay there next year for our return trip to Maui.

Family VACA

Betsy S. from Los Angeles, CA – Would stay again
Stayed Jul 2009, 10 days

We stayed for 10 nights with three kids, ages 5 to 11. Everyone loved the property. The pool was a blast for the kids with two waterfalls, swim-in cave, long and short; water slide. We used the pool every day. We also used the tennis court nearly everyday. You can book one hour per day. Beware that tennis racquet rentals will cost you. So, even with the extra luggage fee, it's still will save you. Also, if you don't have white bottomed tennis shoes;no running shoes please), they will charge you $7 to rent them. The beach right off the property has very sharp reefs. My husband cut his face diving in the waves. There is a hotel doctor, but it's $300 for a visit! Luckily, his wounds were shallow and Polysporin did the trick in a couple of days. We would love to visit again, but probably for a shorter time. Breakfast can costs you upwards of $70 for 5 people per day, so that can get a little crazy. We did a lot of cereal and granola bars in the room.

We absolutely loved the Hyatt Regency Maui. The view from the hotel is breathtaking with an ocean view room. Pools were nice. It felt very tropical. Having breakfast included every morning was nice with a good variety to choose from. We cannot wait to return for our anniversary one day. Lots to do in Maui, especially if you love beautiful scenery and adventure.

Travel Guide/getting around

Must rent a vehicle. Rent a jeep if available. Especially when seeing the road to hana, the jeep was nice. Get Maui Revealed as your travel guide. Very informative and gives you exact locations of interesting attractions. Loved eating at Mala in Lahaina. Good food.
