the hotel was excellent in every respect. the service and staff were amazing - gracious, helpful - cheerful.... it's a beautiful hotel - well appointed - and if you upgrade to the suites - you are entiled to a complimentary breakfast and cocktail hour daily - free internet access - a complimentary buffet breakfast and a beautiful room. it is situated in a great area - within walking distance to a main pedestrian area.can't think of a single con.
Sept/Oct 2008 Review...
I stayed here for a 12 night stay through National Day and Golden Week and have ZERO complaints about the Park Plaza Wangfujing... The location is in the center of just about every major landmark one would want to see and much of those are feasible by foot. The 5 Line Subway is right outside the hotel and from there you are connected with the entire city via the various subway lines. The hotel is well kept and is very clean and spacious. The staff that I encountered were all very helpful and most spoke some form of English and if they did not, they made sure you found someone that did. I stayed in a King Deluxe room, which was very nice and very adequate... The mini-bar was always stocked and room was always cleaned promptly and satisfactorily. The laundry service was also very adequate and relatively cheap. In conclusion, I would not only reccommend this hotel to anyone but I would also stay there and probably will again... The hotel met all my needs and exceeded them in certain situations.
Great value for money
Really great stay. Nothing to complain about. Would go there again.
A great hotel in a great location
The Park Plaza is located within walking distance of the major Wangfujing shopping district as well as Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, so the location is excellent. In addition, our room was very clean and spacious. One frustration was a tendency of the shower to somehow get around the shower curtain and put water on the floor. The room was very well equipped with a TV with lots of Western channels, a refrigerator, iron and ironing board and so on. The dining facilities were good, but a bit pricy and there was no swimming pool or other facility of that kind. Overall, this is a great hotel to stay in close to the center of Beijing as long as you want to shop and sightsee. If swimming in a hotel pool is your thing, then this is not the hotel for you. I would happily stay there again.

Getting to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City
Don?t bother to take a taxi to Tiananmen Square or the Forbidden City. Taxies can?t stop anywhere near Tiananmen Square, so you will be picked up and dropped off at a site that is not appreciably closer to where you want to go. The taxi drivers are generally honest, but they can?t do miracles. The best thing to do is walk which is not unpleasant and will be a cultural experience. Head a few blocks west from the hotel on any close by street and you will run into the walls of the Forbidden City, turn right and after a
