Perfect Location - Super Package Deal
After considerable Internet searching for flights+hotels separately, this site offered a package that made the hotel "free". We were very pleasantly suprised with the included room amenities: very clean; Desk US plug adapter; Bathroom 110v outlet; flat screen tv w/ wake up service; hairdryer; ironing board; safe. Not free or used: Internet at 5gbp/12hrs; Smart TV w/ Internet and keyboard. We didn't care for the expensive, bland restaurant/hotel food. Giraffe/Wilton St across the street had a chearful staff and tasty fare, including breakfast, for less than half what you pay in the hotel. Also recommended 1 block south of the hotel on Wilton is Starbucks, Nando's (Portugese), and the Grand Paridiso (Italian). If you want half+half at Starbucks you have to ask for it, otherwise "white" implies milk or powdered creamer. Also 1 block south on Wilton is a Sudsbury, a full grocer w/ deli. Although the hotel address is on Vauxhall, you'll find that accessing the property via Wilton St is more convenient. From the Victoria train or tube station, look for the Apollo Theatre - currently a huge green "Wicked" sign hangs down the front. Walk down the Apollo side of Wilton to the end of the 2nd block - the entrance is directly across from Giraffe.
Great Hotel and Great Location
Modern, clean and excellent location. Close to the Victoria Station with train and Tube service, and close (for me) walking distance to most London interests. Food is good, but not great (but isn't that just the UK?). I stay there on business travel, and continue to return when I can. I highly recommend it. Price for rooms can vary quite a bit, at times, depending upon when/how you book, but a good value.
Access to Main Train Station
This hotel is excellent if arriving by air into Gatwick or Heathrow and don't want to deal with Taxi's or the Subways. From the Airports, Take Express train to Victoria Station and Exit to your right off the train platforms- That is once you get off the train and walk into the Main Station GO TO YOUR RIGHT. We didn't know and there aren't any signs. Walk all the way around past the last track Go to your right and head down the path along the train tracks. There will be shops on your left and tracks on your right. At the end of the shops on your left is an Exit. Walk out that door (Wilton Road Exit), walk under the Bridge and the Hotel is on your right. You can't miss it. If you go this way, you will be exposed to any weather for no more than 50 feet and you are at the hotel. Once you know this route, you can access subways and main trains to go anywhere in London or the UK you desire. \nThe Concierge Guys are ALL Excellent. If arriving early morning (most Int'l flights do), they will store your bags, EVERYTHING and will put them in your room when the room is ready. If taking family vacation, this will happen so deal with it. Small family like us 3-4 people I suggest to book PRIVATE Tour. Tour guide will pick you up with PRIVATE Vehicle and escort you around London to take in all the sites. When you arrive back to hotel around 5-6PM, everyone is dead tired and will sleep sound and be ready for the next day. This info (Directions)would have helped us so I hope it is of some help to you.
Love this location and the service
The Victoria Park Plaza works great for my business trips to London. It's so easy to catch the Gatwick Express to Victoria and then the hotel is walking distance from the station. The front desk is staffed from a variety of international locations and they are all very service oriented. On my second stay, they had remembered that I would need an early check-in from an overnight flight and had already noted that in my profile.\n\nThe lobby is sophisticated and the food is upscale. There are lots of more casual eateries right around the corner if you prefer. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Bedding is nice and the bathroom is roomy. My favorite amenity is the US electric plug outlet at the desk!
Victoria Park Plaza
Great hotel right next to Victoria Station. Near theater where we saw Wicked. Very nice comfortable rooms. Upscale lobby/bar/restaraunt.
