Galt House Hotel

Overall, I loved this hotel, its location, the accommodations, and the service. I stayed for six days and didn't notice any of the negatives that other reviewers mentioned. I stayed at this hotel for a large conference. My (non-balcony) suite was spacious, clean, modern, and well appointed, including wet bar and fridge (could have used a microwave, too, but oh well). Flat screen TV's in both living room and bedroom, beautiful marble bath, separate vanity area with makeup mirror. Living room had sofa and easy chair, coffee/end tables, dining table with chairs, and desk with executive chair (plus free wi-fi). Room was huge, luxury linens and a very comfortable bed. Soundproofing is good, can't hear your neighbors. Plus, I had a beautiful westward river view, the sunsets were gorgeous. Check in was easy, staff was courteous and friendly. Ordered room service on several occasions: the service was impeccable, and the food was outstanding! Several of the same menu choices are available from the hotel restaurants, and the prices were reasonable. Beautiful bar in the atrium, bar counter was actually an aquarium. The bourbon bar was warm, inviting, and lodge-like. Close to several attractions, restaurants, and night spots, and right on the trolley line for easy sightseeing. State of the art gym at the top of the suite tower, you can walk the treadmills while enjoying incredible 360 degree views of the city and Ohio River. I loved this hotel and enjoyed my stay there tremendously. If I should find myself returning to Louisville, this would be the only place I'd want to stay.

The hotel lobby is very, very lovely. But the rooms were just okay. Between paying 24 dollars to park my car on site (they told me after that I could have only had a one time fee of 12 dollars), arguing with the clerk about my online travel website reservation, and getting charged * dollars for no reason that took weeks to get returned, the hotel was not worth the effort. I will be staying elsewhere the next time I visit Louisville!!

My family stayed in the Galt House in October 2008. A CD travel case with 10 of my sons favorite DVDs was stolen from our room while we were out on our last night of our stay. While we locked up jewelry and electronics. I went through the trouble of having security fill out an incident report, which they sent to their insurer. The hotel passed off responsibility to their insurance company. They, in turn, told me that they were not responsible for the loss either. The Galt House claims they are a ""splendid"" hotel. I think they are irresponsible and depend on their size and location rather than any hint of quality service to stay in business. I don't plan to visit Louisville anytime soon, but I wouldn't stay at the Galt House, nor recommend it to anyone who wants to visit this beautiful city.

I didn't feel that they should make you pay to park your vehicle in their parking garage if you are staying with them. So you not only have to pay for your room, but you have to pay $12.00 to park your vehicle in their garage. But over all it is a very nice hotel, with lots of room in the room. I very good service the night we were there.

I made reservations to stay at the Galt House while staying in Louisville to obtain CEU for nursing. It was my first overnight stay at the Galt House, as I was previously a resident of Louisville. I had attended meeting & conventions there, so was pleased when I was able to obtain reservations there. I was very pleased with my room, cleanliness, security, comfort and convenience of location of the facility. I plan to stay there in the spring of 2008 to attend a conference after my very positive experience this stay.
