Rydges Auckland

We just returned from a three week trip to New Zealand and stayed here 2 days at the beginning and another 2 days at the end. We chose Rydges based on location before we left and were very pleased with our cloice. Sky City is one block away. Besides the Sky City views, bungy jumping and other attractions on site there is an i-site in the Sky City building that is very helpful for booking the rest of your trip. And lots of buses stop there as well. The hotel itself is rather like the W hotels here is the US. The rooms are a little small but the beds are super comfortable with down comfoters and pillows. The furnishings are modern. We found the buffet breakfast to be the best we encountered in our 21 days in NZ. New Zealand is not known for its service but the service here is like top hotels in the US and no one expects tips! The front desk was very helpful and room service was prompt and excellent quality. The only negatives were the size of the room and the cost of using the on site computer which was the highest we encountered anywhere. But all in all it was an excellent value for the price. We ended up also staying at a Rydges in Christchurch and returning for the two days here at the end of our trip.
