Great place to stay

I have stayed at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza twice in the past year and have been very pleased with the service both times, arriving very late at night, the staff was so helpful and friendly. The pool area and outdoor area is beautiful!!!! Rooms are clean and well maintained. Security is excellent!! Hotel is within walking distance of the public market, the seafood is excellent!!!!!!! Mall of Asia is just a short taxi ride from hotel, and you can find just about anything your heart desires there!! I'm sure you will be pleased with this hotel, as I will make my next reservations with them in the future!

Very nice hotel.

Philip G. from Laporte, IN – Would stay again
Stayed Dec 2008, 3 days

It took about 40 min. from the time I checked in until my bags were brought to my room. I had to call the desk to remind them that my bags were not brought up. It was not because they were busy as I was the only one that checked in at that time. I checked in and out of the hotel twice in a five day period and I would not rate the front desk staff as being very friendly. Actually there was a woman that had a bit of a bad attitude. When I went down to eat, I was put on what was, according to the reservation girls a long waiting list. This never made sense because MANY of the tables that were supposed to be reserved were never used the entire 1 1/2 hours that I was in the dining area. I checked back about 1hr. after dining and the same tables were still unused with their utensils, glasses and napkins still waiting. Common sense says that the dining rm. is not making money when the tables are empty. After waiting 1/2 hr.and looking at all of the empty tables I gave a man working in the reservation area 200 pesos and he got me a table next to the buffet. Also the waitress was cold and unattentive. Having said all of this the Sofitel is a very nice hotel and I will go back. The majority of the staff was courteous and friendly. Great view of Manila Bay. The grounds and the pool area are 1st class. I'm not so sure that I would use the dining area again.

Front staff service needs improvement in their treatment of guests and in taking ownership for mistakes in booking and room releases. Rooms are old and dirty. Bathrooms are disappointing.
