A Beautiful Resort

We enjoyed our 4 days at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. The hotel is in a lovely, well-maintained setting. As soon as we arrived, I felt as if we had been dropped into a postcard. It was just that perfect. The lobby, lounge area, terraces are very well maintained and most inviting. The pool is fabulous, even better than that at the Mauna Kea. The beach is breathtaking - truly deserves it's rating in the top 10 beaches in the world. Knowing how well maintained everything was, I was a little disappointed in our room. The furnishings were dated and in need of an update. And the room had a musty odor at times. The large bathroom with separate shower and two sinks in the vanity were very nice amenities to have. All the employees with whom we interacted were very friendly and helpful. A great staff! I would return to this hotel and recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful get-a-way.

Nice Hotel but bring your Wallet!

The Hotel is very nice and the beach is very very nice. They will set up chairs and umbrellas for you in the AM. The stores, shops, and restaurants are on the pricey side. We parked our car in the ramp and we were on the opposite side of the hotel...it can be a long walk! Overall it was a very nice experience and would reccomend it to anyone. If privacy is what you want this is the place. It was nied that they had a gate with a guard to let you in at the driveway...made you feel safe. The offered fitness classes also, a yoga class was $17.

This hotel deserves its high ratings

We stayed 8 nights and everything was flawless. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to help my handicapped wife. Good handicapped access. The only downside was the price of the food--extremely expensive but it was expensive everywhere in the area. A good choice is a drive to Wamiea, about 15 mins away. The Jade Palace has excellant chinese food. There is also a grocery store in Wamiea and in the next resort south of Hapuna. Both have good deli's. The hotel is highly recommended. If this got 4 stars from online travel website, would really like to stay at a place with a 5 star rating!

snorkle equipment

Snorkle Bob's, a little south of the airport at Kona, is a good place to rent equipment. Much cheaper than renting at a hotel.
Type:Dining Distance: Requires transportation

Wamiea

Good options for dining, about 15-20 mins away.

We were there April 2009 and loved it so much we are going back at Christmas this year (2009). Great friendly staff and a beautiful hotel, beautiful beach!!!! The kids loved it too!! We have been to Maui and the Big Island in my opinion is far superior to Maui.

Great Honeymoon Spot

Greg D. from Stratford, NJ – Would stay again
Stayed Sep 2008, 5 days

We stayed in an oceanview room in building #5 on our honeymoon in September 2008. The hotel is archictecturally beautiful and provides outstanding open air views of the beach and pool. Access to one of the best beaches in the world. The staff is focused on providing fantastic service that exceeds every expectation. They provided a seemingly neverending ice bucket, continuous fresh towels, and had excellent valet and concierge service. The infinity pool was large and relatively empty when we were there. The restaurant and drinks were very expensive , but in line with everything in the surrounding area. The price for 2 drinks and 2 cheeseburgers was hard to take. We ended up using the business center to mail our souvenirs home.
