hotel intercontinental nehru place
compared to the Crowne Plaza which is same chain and same price, this was dissapointing. carpets were worn, systems antiquated. food was also not that great. beds were very comfortable. most rooms are smoking. Crowne Plaza had excellent rooms, electronic privacy system etc. food was better.
Intercontinental Nehru Place
Well I first have to tell you that I've been spoiled by Dubai hotels...so it's hard for the rest of the area countries to measure up. Delhi has some outstanding hotels...at ridiculous prices. The best compromise I've found is the Intercontinental Hotel-Nehru Place. Two main restaurants...the chinese place is pretty good, albiet pricey, and the 24 hour restaurants isn't too bad. Doesn't seem like they have room service, which is a shame. Rooms. Flat screen TV's with good channels, high speed internet is actually high speed. Typical semi redone 80's style room, clean, functional. The air con is really musty, and when you first walk in the rooms they smell like cat pee. Service is outstanding, they are very helpful. Little mini bar in the room with some snacks. Only two bottles of ""complimentary water"" per day, which is not enough... One gripe....the hall of ""merchants"" on the way to the chinese restaurant downstairs. Like walking the gauntlet...""buy this, hello, Mr. Mr., etc, etc?....get enough of that on the street, don't need it in my hotel. Couldn't they put in a little store like other hotels that sell things like..say....water, batteries, magazines, etc.? Ya know the little shops that all hotels seem to have, except this one. No major complaints...but I guess with the intercontinental name, I was expecting more flash. However...compare it to the other hotels, and the prices tells you what the level is. Acceptable, reasonable, functional. Not a dive, not a luxury hotel, decent.
Love Delhi hospitality
Go every other year to Delhi and have stayed in a lot of the 5 star hotels there. Am making an effort to write about this one, as this one somehow left a mark of difference. Never needed to even go to the reception even once during my stay, it seems that they tracked my individual likes and dislikes and then remembered them.... don't know how... but it definately made me feel special. Great hotel... next time .... definately
