Lovely Inn - Great Value
My husband and I spent 4 nights at Old Santa Fe Inn at the end of August. Having traveled quite a bit and stayed at plenty of high-end hotels (where you pay a lot for the room and have to pay extra for everything else), I can honestly say that this was one of the nicest hotel experiences we've ever had. Our room was quaint, clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet - included in the room price and served in a charming room (outdoor seating also available) - had a big variety of both hot and cold items all of which were fresh and tasty. Fresh baked cookies served in the afternoon were also a big treat. All of the staff we had contact with were courteous, helpful and friendly - especially Alex at the front desk. Location was perfect - close enough to plaza (3-4 block walk) without the congestion of being right on the plaza. The parking spaces in the lot were kind of small and, at times, a bit hard to get in and out of especially with a larger car, but this negative is far outweighed by the fact that there is no charge for parking (unlike many other Santa Fe hotels). We look forward to our next trip to Santa Fe - we'll definitely be staying at Old Santa Fe Inn!
Hot small rooms, but good location
This inn has very small rooms with the exception of a couple larger rooms with king size beds. If you stay here I would recommend that you get a larger room. Also, the rooms are hot (we were there in August). The air conditioners are set at a high temperature and cannot be changed for more efficient cooling. The staff is very nice, and the breakfast buffet is very good. It is a short 5 minute walk to the Plaza and all the shopping areas. If you want to stay near downtown this Inn is very convenient.
Cozy and comfortable
We stayed for one night in late June. The room was very cozy and inviting. Bed comfortable. Continental breakfast was very complete ;juice and cereal to eggs and bacon; and served in a nice dining room area. Staff very attentive to filling items that were running low on the breakfast buffet. Desk staff courteous and helpful. The one problem we experienced was with parking. The lot is rather small. Due to family obligations we returned to our room at 11 p.m. Despite there being a parking space right in front of the door to our room, we were unable to park there because a UHaul with tow pack and another large vehicle were parked in the lot, blocking our access to the parking space. The parking spaces were very narrow also, and that made it even more difficult to manuever. Except for that problem, our stay was a pleasant one.
Great surprise very near the Plaza
This was a great find! The Inn is based around an old motel on Historic Route 66 and when you pull in it is like going back in time 70 years; however, this is just the look. The parking is right at the door to your room. The rooms are great and a nice surprise to see how they have updated the inside while leaving the historic nature of the outside and courtyard. The breakfast is provided as part of the cost of the room and is VERY NICE. We had a full breakfast bar and make-your-own breakfast burritos with your choice of Northern New Mexico items. We walked to the Plaza and were there within 5 minutes via a casual walk (if you do not stop by all the nice shops on the way. The Inn is is close to the Plaza as the Hilton BUT with half of the cost, free breakfast, without parking fees and with very nice office staff. Try it out - you will also consider this a find! One note, this is a great place for a couple for a romantic get away but our kids would not think it much fun.
A Very Good Inn
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Old Santa Fe Inn. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The accomodation was of a very high stanndard and the breakfast was one of the best we have seen, We will stay here again.
