It was a great place to stay!

kat S. from newport Beach, CA – Would stay again
Stayed Sep 2009, 1 day Most Recent Stay

The staff was very helpful, it is especially nice that they have a free shuttle driver to drop you at musems and resteraunts. The parking is very difficult. The rooms are a little dark but well furnished, our first room was really crowded so the hotel let us get a bigger room for an added fee,( but it was worth it.) I was dismayed that the quoted travelocity seemed a fair price but when the taxes and fees were added in it was $* more!! So our night ended up being pretty pricey afterall. The food at the hotel was good.

The Hacienda at Hotel Santa Fe

Gail M. from Iowa, IA – Would stay again
Stayed Aug 2009, 3 days

I have read some of the bad reviews on this site. We had a few minor problems with our stay but all in all, we had a wonderful stay. Most of the staff were friendly although some seemed uninterested. We stayed in the Hacienda for our 3 night stay, which is a separate building from the Hotel, so our experience could be quite different than the hotel guests' experiences. Our room was a suite with a fireplace and separate bedroom. The entire place is decorated with native artwork and is lovely but simple. We stayed the last week of August and found no problem in walking to the Plaza. It's about 6-8 blocks maybe? Not at all a bad walk for us and we discovered so many cute little shops and restaurants along the way. We ate at the Hotel restaurant once and won't do that again. With the Hacienda rooms, you get a free breakfast and late-afternoon snacks (plus cash bar) on the top floor of the Hacienda building. The breakfast didn't have much for hot food- made to order waffles and oatmeal- but had hard-boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, toast/bagels, cottage cheese, pastries, coffee, tea and juices, which was certainly enough for us. Evening snacks were minimal cheese and crackers. The best thing about the hotel is it's staff- specifically, John Felix, who is the evening cocktail host. He was a font of information about Santa Fe, having grown up there and is now semi-retired. He was attentive and really loves Santa Fe. We met another couple who had been traveling to New Mexico since 1970 and now they always stay at the Hacienda at Hotel Santa Fe after trying many other places in Santa Fe.

American Craft Jewelry at Jett Gallery is great!

I own an American Craft gallery and really was a little disappointed the same-old, same-old of the galleries in Santa Fe. Jett was one exception- they carry fantastic hand crafted contemporary jewelry of high quality. It's a hidden gem!

Really nice place to spend time

Fred N. from New York, NY – Would stay again
Stayed Aug 2009, 3 days

The Hotel Santa Fe was a wonderfully pleasant place to stay. From the surprise of the complimentary shuttle bus from the Santa Fe Airport to the check in the the room. Everyone I dealt with couldn't have been more accommodating in every way. The restaruant, where I lunched and dined on most days was also good. The most lasting impression is of the lady who was in charge of the dining room, S. She made every meal memorable in her care and guidance through the menu and her wonderful friendliness--professional, efficient and charming. Also the food was good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, one can't get lunch served at the swimming pool. That would have made it perfect. I would recommend the hotel highly to everyone. Fred

Waaay Waaay Overpriced!! - Very Disappointed!!

M J. from Houston, TX – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Aug 2009, 3 days

This was to have been a very special trip, however - the facility is grossly overpriced and very tired . My experience with the front desk staff was offensive, aloof, indifferent and incompetent. They ARE NOT within walking distance to the heart of the Plaza in August, as they claim. Late September with much lower temps - maybe. Don't bother driving to the Plaza during the heart of tourist season, as there's little to no parking. The front desk omits that info. The maid service is unbelievably slow. Don't expect your room to be ready or cleaned before 4 pm. Don't expect all of the walls in your room to be painted. Don't expect your windows to close after you open them. Don't expect your bathroom door to be painted, stained or finished. Don't expect a coffee maker or small refrigerator in your room. Do expect to be nickeled and dimed for most everything wifi = $10 bucks/day!! Concierge service disappears quit often before 11 a.m., and becomes non-existent afterward. Wait staff was friendly. If you order the onion rings, order extra napkins to soak up the grease. The bed was comfortable. The could be an outstanding hotel with some paint, new carpet, competent front desk staff, and better prepared food.

Not what we expected

Andy H. from Denver, CO – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Jul 2009, 2 days

Stayed in July for a wedding. Ran out of hot water every morning. Bathrooms are small. Surprised at the number of food trays that were left in the hallways throughout the day. Cute place, but woldn't stay again. Other hotels for better price close to Plaza. Restaurant is fair.
