Discrimination against Mexicans
My husband and I travel frequently and we have never been so offended. My husband is of Mexican descant and on 4 different occasions he was pulled aside by hotel security and asked why was he was there, what room is he in, how did he book his vacation. He was asked to shoe ID to prove who he was and on one occasion he was not let into the hotel. I had to be called downstairs. (I forgot my wallet and went to our room to retrieve it) We spoke to personnel at the front desk: XYZ and she was extremelly rude. He response to our complaints was ""So what do you expect me to do?"" and "" So you expect me to bother ever single patron to make you feel better?"" The pool area was disgustng it smelled like urine and we where surprised that familys would let thier children play there. I have read comments about the lagoon and I agree. It is ajorned to the dolphin pool and you cannot even see the dolphins due to how dirty it is. The food was good yet i would suggest that families save thier money and try a different hotel such as Ritz Carlton or Royal Sands.

great location
Hotel has a great location to downtown clubs and to the local bus line. Taxis are very expensive ranging from 8 to 10 $ the local bus is only .60 cents
Dreams Cancun Vacation was Awesome!!!
My family and I just returned from Dreams Cancun. The resort is beautiful and has an awesome location. We traveled with our children, 3 and 5, and there was plenty for them to do at the resort. They really just loved being able to see the Dolphins that live on the resort daily. We stayed in a Club Master 1 Br. Suite. It was amazing!!! 2 balconies, a large jacuzzi on the balcony, and one in the bathroom, 2 TVs, & a living room. The views were awesome from this suite. There are ocean views even from windows in both bathrooms. The second bathroom was really great for the kids. The bedroom has a huge window behind what appears to be a cabinet, and it provides a stellar view of the ocean. The food at the resort is average, but you will find a decent selection. We enjoyed breakfast in our suite most days, as it was nice being able to eat at the large table in the room. The beaches (there are two one on the club tower side and one on the pyramid tower side) are small as well as the two pools, but they are clean, but this was perfect as it was well suited for our two small children. Our children visited the kids club one day & had a blast making bracelets. The location is awesome, minutes from every shop/restaurant imagineable. We walked to the flea market & to the mall, but decided to take a cab to the downtown flea market because it is cheaper to buy soveneirs there. The staff is amazing. Sheyla the concierge was really great. We never waited more than 30-45 minutes for room service for 4 people and they kept our 2 refrigerators stocked with juice for our children.
More than I expected!
After selecting Dreams Cancun I had read some good and not so good reviews. Below is my personal review from last week. 9 adults and 1 5 yr old. Rooms: Basic but has everything you could need. Amenities in bathroom were great, refrigerator, DVD player in room. Do not get taken by the front desk though when they ask if you want to upgrade. They told us we had a 'resaurant view' and tried to get us for $* to move to an Ocean view in the Tower. I asked to see both rooms. They only let me see the Tower (upgraded room) and after seeing how far the walk is to the Tower building the rooms werent fantastic we opted to stay put. After getting to our 'Restaurant view' room in the Pyramid we were pleasently surprised to see we were yes seeing a restaurant but also the Pool, Dolphins and the Ocean. View was fantastic. Personally the Tower room was identical to teh room we were in and was a much farther walk. I would NOT upgrade. Food: Oceana: Didnt personally eat there since I dont eat seafood but a few in my group said it was good. Hitmitsu- mostly sushi but i had chicken and it was excellent. Service was superb. Buffet: good food overall did get sick of it a bit by day 8 but generally had no issues. Service excellent. Snack Shack: Hotdogs, hamburgers and cliub sandwiches served poolside. Excellent service again and food was hot off the grill. Highly suggest this for lunch. Seaside grill- Staff was extremely rude! Do not eat here. Beach: Wonderful! Played in it everyday. Kids Klub- shows movies everynight at 730 which my daughter loved. Would return in a heartbeat. LOVED this place, so sad we had to leave.

Taxis
Determine price before you get in the cab. Do not get in a taxi right outside hotel as prices are raised. Walk about 100 feet and you can get cheaper rides. We had 10 people in a taxi for a 20 minute ride for $15 total.
Overall great trip!
We were booked to stay in the Club Tower, but when we went to take a shower the water was very orange! They tried to move us to 3 other rooms in the same tower but we found the water to be orange or yellow in all of them. They then moved us to the other building at the hotel and the water was fine. They obviously have some plumbing problems in the Club Tower they need to take care of. We had a wonderful time after that and I would recommend this resort. The food was great as was the service. Would return again but would stay away from the Club Tower! Cleanliness at this resort was exceptional. They were always cleaning somewhere!
Dreams Cancun was like a dream....
...a pleasant perfect dream! This was our first trip to Mexico and I could not have asked for a better experience. The staff at Dreams were extremely friendly. I know it is their job to be, but many went above and beyond what would be expected in a role like that. Items of awesomeness: -Swimming with dolphins. It is a little pricey, but you'll be glad you did. The trainers are friendly and make sure that both you and the dolphin have a good experience (you can tell they really care for these animals). The price for buying photos is really expensive though ($*/photo!). I would recommend that you have someone on the walkway take some photos for you. They may not be as close up or as good, but it will save you some money if you are looking to cut costs -Food: Seaside Grill was our favorite place. Great food and a beautiful view of the ocean while eating -Weather: This time of year is great down there. The average temperature while we were there was in the 90's with a nice breeze during the day and in the 70's at night (early October). -Chichen Itza Tour: We booked ours through travel online for the delux package tour. Well worth it. The tour guides were friendly and really knew their Mayan history well. Tips: -Do not fall for the taxi service inside the airport. Arrange ahead of time. -Use pesos to buy gifts and bargain with the merchant. That's part of the fun! -Try El Mortero restaurant just down the road - great steak and mariachi band plays at your table
