service
apparently they don't provide change of linens especially towels not unless you're oceanfront or stays longer than 7 days. they charge extra for towels. didn't realize they don't have a/c; lots of mosquitoes
Great Hotel
I got to our hotel and was very suprised to see our view of the garden! It was beautiful. The room had its own kitchen, dining room, big bathroom, and living room! We were able to cook our own breakfast every morning in order to save some money! The hotel kitchen was fully furnished, pots, pans, silverwear, any thing you could think of! coffee maker, microwave, toaster, wine glasses, and a dishwasher and soap. It was awsome, it left nothing to be desired! We also loved the balcony. There was a very friendly staff to help answer any and all questions and suggestions about near by resturants. We also went to the pool across the street before leaving. we did not get to try the resturant on the plantation, but we did eat some of their dessert which was ok. I do wish that they would have had room service, and definitley a bar on the beach or near it with service. We just went over to the next door hotel and ordered from their bar! All in all i would highly recommend this hotel for the price and what you get for that price! I felt very at home, and the birds sounded beautiful in the morning. THe bed was also very comfortable!
Castle Kiahuna Plantation
The resort was excellent. It was quite, peaceful and surrounded by beautiful expansive lawns. Our unit that we were in, had a lanai that you can walk out from to the grounds. My son really enjoyed this.. every morning he sat outside looking at the birds and played ball in the afternoons. The unit we had was furnished well, had all the supplies we needed. The only thing I would have changed or wished we had was an A/C in the bedroom. Although the ceiling fan is adequate in the living room, you can't really leave the bedroom shutters open at night since we on the ground floor and didn't want other guests passing to see us sleeping. We'd stay here again for sure. Really loved it...
pool hours 8-6 and not on site
The pool was across the street and down the road, and was closed when we tried to go.. The hours were terrible, since all day we would be at the beach.. Usually you'd like to go for a swim or in the jacuzzi after sun down, but you can't here.\n\nAlso there are only screens and shutters on the doors and windows, so you can hear EVERYTHING.. not much for privacy.\n\nThe room was clean, and the grounds were kept very nicely. It was a great value for the location and the restaurant was good.

$2 best hash browns in Hawaii
Tomcats in Koloa town. $2 for a huge serving of potatoes in the morning. Best deal on the island. We made breakfast in our room every day, but this was a great addition to it.\n\nAlso the Hula Pie at the tropical joint across the street was awesome.
Happy with our stay
We were welcomed by a curteous staff and provided a clean, comfortable place to stay. We were happy with the services and the distance from the beach. Although, we did not have a chance to visit the pool, we were content with having poipu beach a hop, skip and a jump away. Relaxation was the key to a wonderful vacation.

Be sure to rent a car
A car on the island is almost a MUST if you plan on visiting all of kauai and making your own sight-seeing schedule.
