NOT FOUR STARS!!!!!
This hotel needs some immediate ATTENTION!!! The decor is so old and dark, it makes you feel you are in a hotel from the 1940s!!! The a/c is old, the plumbing is old, and the only good thing was the staff!! Other than that, I would not recommend it!!!!!!!!!!
Top of the list
My stay at the Affinia was the best. From the time I checked in with the friendly and helpful front desk staff to the time I left, I was glad I chose the Affinia. The room was spacious and clean. The central location of the hotel made getting around a breeze. It was a nice, liesurely stroll to Times Square. And with our South facing room, the view of Manhattan both during the day and especially at night was fantastic. I will absolutely be staying here again.
GREAT HOTEL, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT LOCATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recently took my wife to New York to celebrate her 30th birthday the weekend of 1/8 - 1/11, 2010. It was a suprise to her until a few days before our departure. The Affinia Dumont did not disappoint! I found the Affina Dumont here on the travel website and the reason I chose to stay here was the fact that (1) it was in the top 15 hotels on the travel website and, (2) the management of the hotel responded to not only the good reviews but more importantly, the not-so-good reviews. I phoned the hotel the day before our departure and asked if they did anything to help make the birthday experience more memorable. I spoke to X in concierge and he told me he would see what he could do. Whether he did anything or not (I believe he did), we were completely ECSTATIC when we were told our room was on the 32nd floor and had a good view. WE HAD A GREAT VIEW !!! Our room (3204) was overlooking 34th Ave and looked straight out to the Chrysler Building. It exceeded our expectations! Not to mention, this all took place at 9:00 am on Friday morning. We were thinking we would just stop by the hotel, drop our bags off, and begin touring around. A (not sure about the spelling) at the front desk greeted us with a big smile and some great news that the room was ready for us to go ahead and check in. It was just the beginning of a great weekend. The staff, the amenities, the location, the room, and most of all (for my wife) the bed and the pillows were great. Thank you for your help in making my wife's 30th birthday unforgettable.

The Barking Dog is a Hidden Gem !
GO EAT BREAKFAST AT THE BARKING DOG !!!!!! By far the best breakfast in NYC with the great prices, the great decor ( I am a dog lover), and the great food.
Fabulous getaway for annual girls trip.
Annual girls trip from west coast to east coast with BFF. Took the redeye so we arrived early am. checked in thinking we could leave bags, but was able to upgrade to 37th floor suite for minimal $$ and check in right away. The suite was great, living room, kitchen, bedroom with 2 beds, big bathroom and closet area. And fabulous veiw of the city and the Chrysler building. Great location. Barking Dog resteraunt next door was very good, market on the corner, Starbucks 1 1/2 blocks up right before the subway. Everyone of the staff that we dealt with was extremely friendly and helpful. Over all we had 5 fabulous days in the city. Would highly recommend the Affinia Dumont and cant wait to go back next year.
Outstanding!
Excellent, friendly, helpful staff. They hailed cabs for us, suggested restaurants.T he front desk clerk put our minds at ease since we were a bit apprehensive in the big city. Superb location on 34th, between Lexington and 3rd Ave. with its phenomenal selection of restaurants. We had a Monday night special of lobster for $* at a sports bar. Unsurpassed. We wish we could go again next week!
