Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

This hotel is a GREAT place to stay. Very upscale completed in a casual way. Bring $$ as this type of living does come at a cost, but you will not be disapointed.

We chose this hotel to be the highlight of our trip. The view did not disappoint. We spent a little more money to get a lake view. The room was nothing great. The bathroom was very small. We took a hike around the south(left) side of the lake which was great as it was a little trail without all the swarms of people which walk on the north(right) side of the lake. I would urge everyone to wake up early and view the sunrise on this lake. A little trick we found was one regarding parking. When you drive up you have the choice to valet or self park your car. Parking your own car in the ramp was around $. Valet was more. However if you drive back out just a little bit you will find a huge lot where all the people come to see the lake. This lot is free and the walk is no big deal.

Pros: this hotel is located in one of the world's most beautiful settings. The food was very good. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. Cons: Although air coinditioning may not be necessary most of the year, our room temperature never seemed to be under 80 degress (Aug 6-Aug 9). The widow only has a very slight opening for air flow. We were so warm we had trouble sleeping.

This setting was fabulous. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed. We highly recommend spending the extra money for the Gold Floor. Kenny and Jordan, two of several wonderful people assisting on the Gold Floor, went above and beyond. We hiked and many trails were right there.
