Well beyond our expectations
This was an excellent hotel. It was obvious to us that the people who worked there were happy to serve their guests. Everyone was very healpful The hotel is located right on Riverwalk. You walk out of the basement right onto the river. The only thing it doesn't have is a restaurant, but literally a half block away is the other Drury Hotel which has the Cattleman's restaurant in the basement. We also went to the Aztec and saw a fabulous Country show performed by very competent artists. Don't miss it. All in all, a very nice visit. I was shooting at the National Shooting Complex out near Sea World. A 25 minute drive got me there with little or no traffic.
Stay here!
Drury Plaza boasts the slogan, "Where the extras are not extra," and I certainly found this to be true. Clean, comfortable room, right down to a recliner with a reading light, free wifi, free long distance, very good hot breakfast every morning, coffee pot and fresh coffee in the room, refrigerator and microwave in the room, hair dryer and ironing board, and more. Staff was professional and exceptionally friendly, but not at all intrusive. Unusually comfortable lobby, and the hotel is in a renovated historic building that used to be a bank. Some of the vestiges of the old bank are amazing. I would return in a heartbeat, and recommend this hotel to family, friends, and business associates as well. (I might add that I am a woman who was traveling alone, and felt comfortable and safe at all times.)
Great Experience
This was our first family vacation and everyone including our 7 & 10 year old found our stay at Drury Plaza a positive experience. We all enjoyed the morning breakfasts and afternoon snack/cocktail hour. The kids couldn't get enough of the roof top swimming pool. Our room was clean, beautifully decorated and large enough to accommodate 4 of us. The only negative was the carpet was a bit stained and starting to look worn. The lobby was amazing and my son was fascinated by the stories our friend told us about how our hotel used to be a bank she worked at. The hotel is a bit farther down the river walk than the more developed areas but we were easily able to walk to all destinations. We also felt completely safe walking along the river walk day or night. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to others.
Better Than Expected...
Right smack in themiddle of the river wak, historic lobby, great employees, and a brilliantly comforable bed. Great Job.
40th wedding anniversary durry plaza
Hotel was great. From the basement floor you were right on the riverwalk. Everything was within walking distance. There is a great show across the street at the aztec theater if you like classic country. Good breakfast and cocktail hour. All employees were very pleasant and helpful. Would stay again. Only thing negative was the bed. It was a little hard for my liking, but Iam used to a waterbed. Nice view from the roof area where the pool and hottubs are. .
