Westin Chicago River North

I stayed in this hotel May 8-10. I had a hard time finding the driveway for the hotel due to the construction right next to it. The construction was so loud that the valet couldn't hear me talk. During check in I asked the front desk if construction would wake me up Saturday morning, at which time I was assured that ""no, there's no construction on Saturday"". Saturday morning I was awoken at 8am by an extremely loud jackhammer, which continued until I left the hotel later that morning. I know the hotel can't control the construction, but they lied about it. I feel that the hotel/travelocity should alert potential customers so they can make an informed decision about staying in this hotel during construction happening right next to it. Rooms are nice, but it was negated by loud construction & blatent lying of the hotel staff about the construction.

Westin exceeded our expectations. Hotel is just 2-3 blocks from subway station. We were able to take "blue line" directly from O'HAre for $2.25 each. Comparable taxi service was about $35. . Large room w/small fridge, lg bath with great shower. hotel right across street from House of Blues. Within walking distance of shopping areas on State and Michigan Ave. Walked to Navy Pier, Art Institute and museum area. Lots of restaraunts nearby on Rush, Dearborn. Corner bagel shop a good priced establishment for breakfast. Whole Foods about 5 blocks further down Dearborn. Like most large cities, hotel food was very expensive - including mini bar and room service so we did not use. Ask for a river-view room. Very friendly staff and adequate housekeeping.

Incredibly poor service - definitely not what you would expect from a Westin. Long lines at check-in (and only one person working the desk - early evening hour), no concierge in sight during our 4 day stay, rooms not cleaned until late afternoon, poor dining recommendations (front desk staff as no conceriege available) and we had to track down a waiter to seat us at the restaurant. Very, very disappointing.

My husband and I wanted to get a quick trip in to see some friends in Chicago prior to the holidays and we selected the Westin for its location, primarily. We were very pleased with the staff, room and services. The staff was really fantastic and warm. We only stayed one night but we had excellent service from the bar and the check-in/check-out was very easy. They offer excellent service and although we didn't use the in-room MAC, it was fantastic to see that they offered so many wonderful amenities. We would definitely go back to stay with them again.

Location very convenient to public CTA. The room was nice and clean. The king bed was great. Very clean. The room was on the 7th floor overlooking a highrise under construction. No big deal but a room on the Southside of the hotel would have overlooked the Chicago River. Use of fitness center $* additional per person. Internet available off the lobby for a charge.
