The Ritz-Carlton Chicago, A Four Seasons Hotel

What a beautiful hotel and the hospitality was wonderful. Our stay in Chicago was greatly enriched by the great staff and amenities.

We usualy stay elsewere when in Chicago but thought we would try the Ritz Carlton Four Seasons, have stayed in a Four Seasons in Malaysia so was expecting the same quality, sorry to say it was no match, a little disappopinting. Upon our arrival the doorman came to the taxi holding up an umbrella as it was raining then he let me walk to the curb in the rain and left my husband paying the cab in the rain! Once we found the reception desk, a little confusing with the concierge desk, up graded to a suite for extra $. We were on the 30th floor with fantastic views, suite was great, super bed linens, large bathroom. Had a bar in our suite BUT no coffee, that was annoying, didn't feel like ordering room service just for coffee. Great staff in the lounge. Didn't eat at restaurant just had the salmon in the lounge, was excellent good wine and champagne. Spent a while in the gym, it was well equiped, plenty to use and they came round with water for you. Hotel is located on the top of the Water Tower shopping so was handy. Hancock buiding is across the street. I may be picky and expect great things but it didn't make my cut for luxury.

The hotel exceeded every expectation I had. I am not very computer literate so I called the hotel and asked if they had any special rates for the nights I needed. I spoke with the evening manager and she was amazing. She found a special rate for us that I did not see immediately on line and she booked the hotel for us. It was still expensive but worth it because of the luxury we stayed in and the wonderful service we received. The room was beautiful and the bathroom was large and amazing! We found chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of Pellegrino water when we arrived in our room. Finally, I asked for late check-out so we could get in one last tour on Sunday morning. They allowed us to stay until 4:00 with no additional charges. We would definitely stay here again when we are in Chicago.

They treat you like a quest, the rooms were plush, but it sure was expensive for a place to sleep. The only thing that bothered me was an extra 6 dollar charge on my credit card. I didn't dare touch the food in the room, so I'm curious as to the charge (since they did not return my call about it), And anyway, for 600 dollars a night, they should have given you a bag of M&M's.
