great time in Beijing
for been my first time in china i will say I had a great time, the hotel in my opinion has a good location, the hotel front desk was quite friendly and surprinsingly most of them spoke english which was quite helpfull, the rest of the staff was also quite friendly and all of my needs were met in a timely fashion, i definitely will stay here on my next trip to china
Great Value
The hotel is a great value for the money - especially when bundled in a Travel website "vacation" package. The staff and service is 5 star ! The room had a mini-refrigerator to store drinks, 2 complimentary bottles of water daily, free high speed Internet cable available in the room. My sister & I really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn - Temple of Heaven. She is returning with our other sister and 2 friends in September 2008 for another shop until you drop trip as we had just done. Beijing airport security is tougher than the US.
Great Deal - Spend money you save shopping
Traveled with twin boys age 9. A little concerned about reviews but when we got to the hotel we were presently surprised. The rooms were nice though bed was pretty stiff and I like hard beds. Back was a little sore after 4 days on the beds. Breakfast was excellent in the hotel. We left the hotel every morning at 0830 on tours and didn't get back to the hotel until around 1000 p.m. This is not a good place to stay if you are looking at walking out your hotel to shop for good deals. You must take a shuttle or taxi to the shopping areas (Lido, Pearl Market, Silk Market) but the money you save staying here will make up for the shuttles. The Holiday Inn Lido is very close to shopping and the hotel has nice restaurants (plus Starbucks) but you pay twice as much. And who really stays in a room much. You won't be disappointed.
AVOID at any cost
You will arrive and there will be no room for you. They will then change your room to something other than what you had a CONFIRMED reservation for. They will charge you MORE money than your "guaranteed" reservation rate . Holiday Inn does not stand by their guarantee here. Complete rip off. You are at their mercy. You will get a smoking room for MORE money even if you had a CONFIRMED reservation for a non-smoking room at a lower rate. Good luck dealing with the Holiday Inn call center. You will get routed to the Phillipines. Very unethical and bad business. Horrible experience. The hotel is in the middle of no where. This is a Holiday Inn in name only. There is no guarantee that protects you here at all.
BUFFET BREAKFAST EXCELLENT, FANTASTIC HOTEL SERVICE ~!
Location is about 10-15 min Taxi ride from main Beijing city, but with Taxi's lined up by the Hotel, its very easy to get around. Its 5 min Taxi rides to Main St where TONS of Restaurants, shops, and Supermarket are. FREE Buffet Breakfast is EXCELLENT- alot of variety of bakery goods, chinese dishes, American ( waffles, omlettes made custom for you) and good quality food and atmosphere. Hotel service is FANTASTIC- they are polite and nice, treats you very well. Room was overall Good, modern interior, room service excellent.

FIRST TIMERS IN CHINA, WATCH OUT for STOMACH VIRUS/FLU
THis was my first time in China. Even though I ate at moderately upscale dining places, I did get the stomach flu. Also, I got flu with fever of 103.5 F DON'T DRINK TAP WATER THERE. Only bottled water. NOT EVEN ICE ! If you are a First Timer, bulk up on Vitamin C and "Immune Boosting Products", bring Advil, because I tried getting Chinese medicine from Pharmacy, I don't even know if it worked.Bring "Anti-Bacterial Hand sanitizing lotion" - Type:Area Attractions Distance: Requires transportation

PEARL MARKET INDOOR FLEA MARKET TYPE- Find BRANDS For CHEAP
If you want Brand Names clothing, bags, Souveniers, etc for cheap, go to Pearl Market in Beijing. About 15-20 min Taxi Ride from Temple of Heaven. Its about 7 Story building, with Lots of clothing, souveniers, jewelry, bags, luggage, chinese stuffs and more things. \nYou MUST BARGAIN WITH SELLERS. You can cut down at least 40% of what they are asking.\nThere were couple other Flea markets, but Pearl Market had the most variety...
